Project: Lesotho
Project: Lesotho is a new initiative which was started in 2013 when Cst. Scott Rothermel, an associate of EMCS Leadership, was going to pick up his two adopted sons (who happen to be brothers) in Lesotho, Africa. He told our class about the poverty of the country and the learning conditions that students face every day. Leadership was very eager to get involved to try to make a difference. Out of that passion and desire to help these children, this project was born.
Even though this initiative is still quite new, the students are working hard at organizing a variety of different fundraising events to promote better learning conditions and to supply school supplies for students. Leadership has already raised money to buy sleeping mats for the children, helped supply clothing and sports equipment, and are looking to raise money to buy a solar oven for a school. |
